I un directed by the Lords Commissionera of Hia Majesty's Treasury to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 4th instant, stating that the Mercantile Bank of India does not desire to make any representations in
connexion with the proposed issue of a new Charter to the
Chartered Bank of India Australia and Chinn.
With reference to the last paragraph of your letter I am to any that in Their Lordships' opinion the question raised in your letter under reply is primarily one
for the consideration of the Colonial Government concerned
and the Secretary of State for the Colonies to whom your
letter has accordingly been forwarded.
